Mulch & Wood Chip Delivery
Get clean, locally-produced chipper mulch and 2” natural regrind delivered

At 4th Generation Tree (4G Tree), we provide high-quality mulch and wood chip delivery services throughout San Luis Obispo County, including Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, and San Luis Obispo. Our mulch is produced locally from our own tree-trimming and brush-chipping operations, giving homeowners, ranchers, and landscapers access to clean, sustainable ground cover at a fraction of retail prices.
We now offer free chip drops when our crews are working nearby — a great way to recycle local tree material while supporting healthy soil and water retention. To request a delivery or a free chip drop, email info@4gtree.com.
Why 4G Tree for Mulch & Wood Chips
- Local + fresh: Produced from Central Coast tree work—no pallets, pressure-treated lumber, or trash wood.
- Right material for the job: Choose chipper mulch (mixed particle sizes, great all-purpose cover) or 2” natural regrind (coarser, longer-lasting for roads, slopes, and heavy-traffic areas).
- Fast scheduling: Residential driveways to large commercial drops, routed daily countywide.
- Fire-wise depth guidance: We advise safe placement and depths near structures to support defensible space.
- Pro crews + real trucks: Efficient, tidy dumps with attention to irrigation, utilities, and access.

How Much Mulch Do I Need?
Rule of thumb coverage per cubic yard:
- 2” depth: ~160 sq ft
- 3” depth: ~108 sq ft
- 4” depth: ~80 sq ft
Quick calculator:
- Square feet × desired depth (inches) ÷ 324 = cubic yards needed.
Examples:
- 1,000 sq ft at 3” ≈ 9.3 yd³
- 600 sq ft at 4” ≈ 7.4 yd³
Recommended Depths & Placement
- Garden beds: 2–3” (keep 3–6” clear around trunks and stems)
- Weed suppression: 3–4”
- Ranch roads/paths: 3–6” (2” regrind holds better)
- Slopes/erosion: 3–4” with coarse texture; add check rows on steeper grades
- Defensible space: Follow local fire guidance; avoid piling against structures or decks

FAQs
Is the material treated or dyed?
No—our standard products are natural. If you need colored products, email us and we’ll discuss options.
Will chipper mulch sprout weeds?
Chips can suppress existing weeds when applied at correct depths; occasional volunteer seeds are possible with any natural mulch. A 3–4” layer greatly reduces germination.
Is there green waste or construction wood mixed in?
No construction lumber. Source is clean tree/brush material from certified arborist operations.
Can you place it in multiple spots?
One dump per load is standard. Multiple small piles may require extra time/equipment—ask when booking.
Do you blow-in mulch?
We currently deliver bulk dumps. For blower-truck projects, email specs and we’ll advise.
