Local Mulch & Wood Chip Delivery for Healthier, More Sustainable Landscapes

4th Generation Tree provides clean, locally produced mulch and wood chip delivery throughout Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, and surrounding Central Coast communities. Produced from our own professional tree trimming, pruning, and brush-chipping operations, our natural chipper mulch and 2-inch regrind provide an affordable, sustainable solution for moisture retention, weed suppression, erosion control, pathways, vineyard rows, ranch roads, and landscape improvement.

Benefits of Local Mulch & Wood Chips

Improve Soil Moisture Retention

A properly applied layer of mulch helps reduce evaporation and retain valuable soil moisture during the Central Coast's hot, dry conditions.

Suppress Weed Growth

Chipper mulch provides a natural barrier that can reduce sunlight reaching weed seeds and help limit unwanted growth throughout landscaped areas.

Reduce Erosion & Improve Ground Stability

Coarse wood chips and natural regrind help protect exposed soil, reduce runoff, stabilize slopes, and provide durable coverage for roads and pathways.

Recycle Local Tree Material

Our mulch is produced from local tree trimming and brush operations, transforming reusable organic material into valuable landscape products instead of sending it to waste.

What drives the price

01

Access

Can a chipper and a grapple truck get within reach of the trunk, or is everything coming out through a 36-inch gate by hand? This is the single biggest variable.

02

Drop zone

Open ground under the canopy means we can fell and buck. A pool, a patio or a neighbour's roof underneath means rigging or a crane, and the day gets longer.

03

Size, species and condition

Green oak weighs far more than dry pine of the same diameter, and a decayed trunk can't be climbed — both change the method before they change the price.

04

Stump and debris

Grinding is quoted with the removal. Say the word and we leave the rounds bucked for firewood, or chip everything and haul it out.

HOW IT COMES DOWN

Climbed, rigged or picked by crane

The method is decided on site by the arborist, not sold to you in advance. A tree in the open gets felled. A tree over a roof gets rigged down piece by piece, or lifted out whole by crane when that is faster and safer for the structure underneath.

Mulch & Wood Chip questions

What is the difference between chipper mulch and 2-inch natural regrind?

Chipper mulch contains a natural mixture of smaller wood chips and particles that works well for garden beds, moisture retention, weed suppression, and general landscaping. The 2-inch natural regrind is a larger, coarser material that decomposes more slowly and is better suited for vineyard rows, ranch roads, slopes, equipment paths, and other high-traffic areas.

No. Our standard chipper mulch and natural regrind are uncolored and produced from clean tree and brush material. They do not contain pressure-treated lumber, construction debris, pallets, or other waste wood.

The amount depends on the size of the area and desired depth. As a general calculation, multiply the square footage by the desired depth in inches and divide by 324 to estimate the number of cubic yards required.

Free chip drops may be available when a 4th Generation Tree crew is already working near your property and your site has suitable truck access and a safe dumping area. Because deliveries depend on crew routing and available material, timing and volume cannot be guaranteed.

4th Generation Tree provides mulch and wood chip delivery throughout San Luis Obispo County, including Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cambria, Los Osos, Nipomo, Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, and surrounding Central Coast communities.

What clients say

★★★★★

I love working with local family owned businesses, and they exceeded expectations! Hard working crew, especially Jeferson the lead, he was extremely knowledgeable on pruning our oaks. We’re on almost three acres, and our views have never been better.

Morgan and his team at 4th Generation Tree were a HUGE help to us. They were easy to work with, flexible, and very accommodating as we worked through several tree removal and trimming needs across our church property. Their work improved both the safety and appearance of our grounds. I highly recommend!!!

Garrett Kruse

★★★★★

Casey, Morgan, and their crew at 4th Generation did a great job trimming our Oak trees, removing three big pines and grinding the stumps. It was a big job and they managed it perfectly! They have been trimming our oak trees for years and we are always happy with the results! Thanks again!
