Professional Tree Assessments & Arborist Reports From ISA Certified Arborists
Understanding the condition and potential risks associated with your trees is essential for protecting people, property, and long-term tree health. 4th Generation Tree's ISA Certified Arborists provide comprehensive tree assessments and professional arborist reports using recognized Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) methods and industry-standard evaluation practices. From residential tree inspections and hazard evaluations to permitting reports, construction assessments, and tree valuations, we provide clear, data-backed recommendations for clients throughout San Luis Obispo County.
What we do
Tree Risk Assessments
Our ISA Certified Arborists evaluate structural defects, root stability, decay, canopy conditions, environmental factors, and potential targets to identify tree-related hazards and recommend appropriate risk-reduction measures.
Arborist Reports for Permitting & Development
We prepare professional arborist reports documenting tree species, condition, locations, root zones, structural health, and preservation recommendations to support permitting, construction, development, and environmental review requirements.
Tree Appraisals & Valuations
When trees are damaged, destroyed, or involved in insurance or legal matters, our arborists provide professional valuations using recognized Council of Tree and Landscape Appraisers methods to establish documented monetary value.
Tree Management Recommendations & Monitoring
Following an assessment, we provide practical recommendations for pruning, structural support, soil improvement, removal, preservation, or periodic monitoring based on each tree's condition and long-term management needs.
What drives the price
01
Access
Can a chipper and a grapple truck get within reach of the trunk, or is everything coming out through a 36-inch gate by hand? This is the single biggest variable.
02
Drop zone
Open ground under the canopy means we can fell and buck. A pool, a patio or a neighbour's roof underneath means rigging or a crane, and the day gets longer.
03
Size, species and condition
Green oak weighs far more than dry pine of the same diameter, and a decayed trunk can't be climbed — both change the method before they change the price.
04
Stump and debris
Grinding is quoted with the removal. Say the word and we leave the rounds bucked for firewood, or chip everything and haul it out.

HOW IT COMES DOWN
Climbed, rigged or picked by crane
The method is decided on site by the arborist, not sold to you in advance. A tree in the open gets felled. A tree over a roof gets rigged down piece by piece, or lifted out whole by crane when that is faster and safer for the structure underneath.

What clients say
★★★★★
I love working with local family owned businesses, and they exceeded expectations! Hard working crew, especially Jeferson the lead, he was extremely knowledgeable on pruning our oaks. We’re on almost three acres, and our views have never been better.
★★★★★
Morgan and his team at 4th Generation Tree were a HUGE help to us. They were easy to work with, flexible, and very accommodating as we worked through several tree removal and trimming needs across our church property. Their work improved both the safety and appearance of our grounds. I highly recommend!!!
★★★★★
Casey, Morgan, and their crew at 4th Generation did a great job trimming our Oak trees, removing three big pines and grinding the stumps. It was a big job and they managed it perfectly! They have been trimming our oak trees for years and we are always happy with the results! Thanks again!
