Ordinance knowledge

Sometimes the question isn't how to prune or remove a tree. It's whether the tree is safe, what a permit requires, how construction will affect its roots or what needs to happen now to keep it standing for another twenty years.

Our arborists work in the field as well as on the report. We assess the tree, document what we find and give you a practical path forward — whether that's monitoring, treatment, structural support, a protection plan or removal. When work is required, the crews who carry it out are ours too.

Common questions

When do I need an arborist report?

You may need one when removing a protected tree, building or grading near existing trees, documenting a potential hazard or satisfying a city, county, HOA or insurance requirement. We can look at the project first and tell you whether a formal report is necessary or a straightforward arborist consultation will do.

A general inspection looks at tree health, condition and management needs. A formal risk assessment goes further by evaluating structural defects, likelihood of failure and what could be struck if the tree or a limb fails. When the situation calls for it, our arborists use TRAQ-based methods and document the findings in a written report.

We can assess its condition and level of risk, but no arborist can guarantee that a living tree will never fail. We look for decay, cracks, root problems, structural weaknesses, canopy imbalance and other factors, then explain what we found and what can reasonably be done to reduce the risk.

It’s much easier to protect a tree before excavation and grading begin. Construction can damage roots, compact soil and change drainage even when the trunk itself is never touched. An arborist can establish protection zones and work with your contractor before construction, then monitor sensitive work when the project requires it.

No. Removal is one possible recommendation, not the purpose of the assessment. Depending on what we find, the right response may be pruning, cabling or bracing, pest or disease treatment, construction protection, continued monitoring or no immediate work at all. The report documents the condition of the tree and the reasonable options from there.

What clients say

★★★★★

We had a fantastic experience with 4Gtree. They were professional, timely, and incredibly prompt from start to finish. They did excellent work on my rental property — not only handling all of the tree work efficiently and safely, but also helping with landscaping cleanup.
