Expert Tree Planting for Stronger, Healthier Landscapes

4th Generation Tree provides professional tree planting services in Paso Robles, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, and surrounding areas with a focus on proper species selection, placement, installation, and long-term health. With more than 70 years of local experience, our certified arborists understand the Central Coast’s soils, drought cycles, wind exposure, and microclimates, allowing us to recommend and plant trees that support shade, privacy, curb appeal, fire-conscious landscaping, and lasting property value.

Benefits of Professional Tree Planting

Proper Tree Selection

We match tree species to the property’s soil, climate, available space, water conditions, and intended purpose to support healthier long-term growth.

Strategic Tree Placement

Our arborists plan tree locations carefully to reduce future conflicts with sidewalks, utilities, buildings, driveways, and surrounding landscaping.

Stronger Long-Term Growth

Proper planting depth, root preparation, spacing, and early structural care help trees establish stronger root systems and healthier canopies.

Landscaping Built for Local Conditions

We select trees that can handle San Luis Obispo County’s heat, drought, wind, slopes, coastal influence, and other regional growing conditions.

What drives the price

01

Access

Can a chipper and a grapple truck get within reach of the trunk, or is everything coming out through a 36-inch gate by hand? This is the single biggest variable.

02

Drop zone

Open ground under the canopy means we can fell and buck. A pool, a patio or a neighbour's roof underneath means rigging or a crane, and the day gets longer.

03

Size, species and condition

Green oak weighs far more than dry pine of the same diameter, and a decayed trunk can't be climbed — both change the method before they change the price.

04

Stump and debris

Grinding is quoted with the removal. Say the word and we leave the rounds bucked for firewood, or chip everything and haul it out.

HOW IT COMES DOWN

Climbed, rigged or picked by crane

The method is decided on site by the arborist, not sold to you in advance. A tree in the open gets felled. A tree over a roof gets rigged down piece by piece, or lifted out whole by crane when that is faster and safer for the structure underneath.

Tree planting questions

Why should I hire an arborist to plant a tree?

An arborist evaluates much more than appearance when selecting and planting a tree. Proper species selection, placement, planting depth, root preparation, and early care can help prevent future problems such as poor growth, root conflicts, unstable structure, and premature tree decline.

The best species depend on the property’s location, soil, sunlight, water availability, and goals. Common options may include Coast Live Oak, Chinese Pistache, Crape Myrtle, Cork Oak, Strawberry Tree, Chinese Elm, Bay Laurel, and several fruit tree varieties.

Yes. 4th Generation Tree can recommend species suited to water-conscious and fire-conscious landscaping while considering the site’s specific growing conditions, available irrigation, spacing, and surrounding vegetation.

Yes. We provide tree planting services for homeowners, HOAs, municipalities, businesses, vineyards, parks, streetscapes, medians, and other commercial or community properties throughout San Luis Obispo County.

Newly planted trees typically require consistent watering, proper mulching, monitoring, and sometimes staking or structural pruning. Our team provides aftercare recommendations designed to encourage deep rooting, healthy growth, and successful long-term establishment.

What clients say

★★★★★

I love working with local family owned businesses, and they exceeded expectations! Hard working crew, especially Jeferson the lead, he was extremely knowledgeable on pruning our oaks. We’re on almost three acres, and our views have never been better.

Morgan and his team at 4th Generation Tree were a HUGE help to us. They were easy to work with, flexible, and very accommodating as we worked through several tree removal and trimming needs across our church property. Their work improved both the safety and appearance of our grounds. I highly recommend!!!

Garrett Kruse

★★★★★

Casey, Morgan, and their crew at 4th Generation did a great job trimming our Oak trees, removing three big pines and grinding the stumps. It was a big job and they managed it perfectly! They have been trimming our oak trees for years and we are always happy with the results! Thanks again!
